212 Metal Clean

212 Melat Clean is a phosphoric acid base solution, used as a pre-treatment for metal surfaces before protective coatings are applied.

Features Include:

  • Removes grease, oil and light rust from ferrous surfaces.
  • Etches and removes oxidation products from aluminium and non-ferrous metals.
  • Promote adhesion of coatings to metal surfaces.

Typical Areas of Application Are:

  • General Sheetmetal works and associated industries.
  • Any bright metal surface which may present adhesion problems.

Area of Use:

  • Rust & Grease Remover.

Surface Preparation – Dilute 212 Metal Clean with one or two parts of water depending upon the extent of contaminants. Apply with a brush and allow to penetrate for 2-3 minutes. Loosen grease, rust etc with sandpaper, and then wipe off with a rag. Dry the surface with another clean rag. Proceed with painting within 24 hours for non-ferrous surfaces and 4 hours for ferrous surfaces.

  • Pre-treatment for new metal, aluminium, gel-coat or previously painted surfaces.

Surface Preparation – Dilute 212 Metal Clean with two or three parts of water. Apply with a brush and leave approximately 10 minutes. Wipe off with a clean rag or rinse with water. Proceed with painting within 24 hours for non-ferrous surfaces, 4 hours for ferrous surfaces to avoid flash rusting.

  • Cleaner for brass and copper.

Surface Preparation – Dilute 212 Metal Clean with two parts water. Brush or wipe the surface then wipe off after 4-5 minutes to remove verdigris etc.
