Swellable waterstops provide a pressure-tight seal for cast-in concrete construction and non-movement joints. Applied either by gunning or placement, these materials are designed to expand and prevent water from passing through concrete joints. Swellable waterstops are placed on one face of the concrete joint prior to pouring the second face of the cast-in concrete.

Swellable waterstops are only used in construction joints (non-movement joints).

Some swellable waterstops are affected by salt or contaminated water. If the ground water is expected to be salty or highly contaminated, it is best to check that the waterstop chosen can perform.
